This Ramadan Dont break your fast with Israeli Dates!Suhoor is the early morning meal which you must take part in before your early morning prayers (Fajr) just before dawn break. Like breakfast Suhoor is your most important meal of the day during Ramadan. It is your only opportunity to stock up on energy to last you throughout the day. Think of yourself as a battery, if you're not charged well enough then you're bound to run short of power and become exhausted at some point during the day. You need enough energy to sustain yourself and get through the day without running short for Iftar.

Consume high in energy food, such as bread, whole wheat, high-in-fibre cereal, low-in-fat milk, fruits, dates, bananas, yogurts, pancakes and tomatoes among a whole host of other things. Do try and fend off any cravings you might have for coffee or tea as it will only dehydrate you and will not help whilst you're fasting. Most important of all drink plenty of water even though you may think you're full, an extra glass of water won't hurt, remember you'll be going without food or water for almost ¾ of the day. Water does wonders to the body, keeping you and your brain hydrated at all times. I recommend this article for further reading on drinking water during Suhoor.

Having Suhoor will also decrease a lot of common symptoms when a person is hungry, such as tiredness, headaches and sleepiness which you would want to avoid at places of work, study and in other areas of your busy schedule.

It is wise to delay the Suhoor as it is will give the person fasting more energy to last them throughout the entire day, most importantly it is Sunnah to delay the Suhoor just until Fajr leaving yourself enough time to prepare food and eat.

The Prophet, (Peace be upon him) said:

"Hasten to eating Iftar in Ramadan immediately when the time is due, and delay eating Suhoor."

He also said:

"Have Suhoor, for in Suhoor there is blessing."

Keep your Suhoor moderate and simple. Remember Ramadan is a time of purification, it is also a reminder that there are many people out there who are not as fortunate as you, they do not know where their next Suhoor is going to come from, yet they are steadfast in their faith and are more than capable of fasting. Sometimes the only Suhoor they have is the very air that they breathe along with the intention to fast.

So you see there are many blessings and reasons as to why you should not miss out on Suhoor and fulfill it as best as you can, otherwise it will only hinder your fast along with your day.
