This Ramadan Dont break your fast with Israeli Dates! This Ramadan Dont break your fast with Israeli Dates!

This year Ramadan Timetable UK and Ireland has teamed up with 'Check the Label - Boycott Israeli Dates' campaign. We need to work together in raising as much awareness as possible on the dates that we use to break our fasts with.

It is 'Sunnah' to break your fast with dates and water as did our prophet Muhammed (pbuh) but what justice will you be doing if the very dates you were breaking your fasts with were supporting the killing and occupation of your fellow Muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine? It has become second nature to alot of Muslims to check food whether it is Halal (allowed) or Haram (forbidden) for Muslim consumption. But do we really give it a second thought when we pickup a box of dates in Ramadan? - The truth is no because we already know dates are perfectly fine without really checking the type and from where its come from.

But a new type of epidemic is now upon us, it comes in the disguise of our favorite fruit and is widely used during Ramadan in fulfilling our religious duty. It is almost like a test to see if we follow through it blindly or if we are careful and pay attention to what is going on around us this Ramadan. It is a sad fact that most of the dates we buy from our local stores are actually a produce of Israel from occupied Palestinian land.

Not only will we be doing much injustice this Ramadan but we'll also be supporting the occupation in Palestine without realising. We need to check the label each time we purchase a box of dates from wherever it may be. It is about time we gave it a second thought and checked it thoroughly like we would with any other type of food, dates are no exception now that you have read this page.

This page will briefly explain what you need to look out for, the type of dates that are from Israel and from the occupied Palestinian lands that we need to avoid.

  1. A bunch of hypocrites! You fast during Ramadan, pray and give Zakat and then you have the nerve to ask muslims to boycott Israeli dates. I though Ramadan is a month of peace, forgivness and goodwill to mankind.
  2. Yes I concur. Absolute hypocrisy. How dare you people stop supporting an illegal regime that kills, starves and tortures innocents.
  3. Yes, like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey (just look at human rights abuse cases in the European Court of Human Rights) - not forgetting the trade unionists of Palestine itself who are hounded and killed by Hamas authorities - look at Amnesty International reports (hardly a friend of the Zionists). Tokenistic boycotts and demonising the enemy is not the way to achieve peace: remove the splinter from your own eye before telling others to do so.
  4. forgiveness? after years of our people in palestine being butchered, tortured, starved and maimed?

it may be Ramadan, and yes we believe in mercy.. but you lose the right to compassion when you've shown none to others!
nice try, pulling the religious card but i think you should open your eyes to the unbelievable crimes against humanity by israel. stop asking for peace when you allow none.. and you call us hypocrites!
  5. British Muslims are a great and generous group of people. The boycott of Isreali dates for breaking the Ramadam fast will do much to affect Israeli producers and Israel !
  6. nice info, thanks a lot. when they occupy my land then ask me for mercy, what kind of logic is that...let's spread the info...thanks again
  7. What A unfair and unbalanced world , the masons,Jesuits, illuminates,Jews , are running this world ,but in reality they are just fooling themselves , there will be reckoning ,true believers know so live them to run their world the way the want , their deaths will complete their actions and confirm their registrations and fellow membership in he'll fire .
  8. Are you going to call for a boycott of produce from Iran, which oppresses its own people and breaches any number of UN resolutions, or is your attention limited to countries which aren't Islamic ?
  9. You are occupying our land (England)...so I'll boycott Rusholme tonight. Thanks for nowt, and stop cheating at cricket.
  10. Hello. I am not muslim and for a very small minority of any religious people, I am the worst thing to be, a non-believer in any god or gods. However, I fully support the boycotting of any Israeli produce until such time as this (almost U.S.A.) state has proven itself in the next attempt at peace talks. They may seem to go on forever but we (all peaceful humans) must continue to try and meanwhile take a stand until these complex issues are resolved. Tesco prepacked herbs are another issue. If you cannot get to a local green grocer and know the source, be very careful when buying supermarket herbs as well as dates. There are wrongs on all sides but it is clear when a state with the economic/ military influence of the U.S.A. behind it is overpowering anyone, be it in Africa, Asia, South America and even eastern Europe. In my humble opinion, we should all keep trying for peace, obviously peacefully, for as long as it takes. Until then, economic boycott is peaceful and demonstrates goodwill to a mixed relgion - it is true - group of oppressed peoples with little power to affect the media for themselves. Finally, of course, extremists are extremists, on any 'side'; and any non-peaceful act is as wrong as another regardless of who or why it was committed. End of speech!
  11. To all those on this forum calling muslims 'hypocrites' if you hate muslims that much what are you doing on this site then???

    Islamaphobic nutters
  12. Sam makes a very good comment about why these people are even on this site. The fact is that there is a vast network of organised Pro-Israeli goups whose sole purpose and paid daytime job is to promote Israel and to respond to any reasoned arguments against Israel and the injustices it perpetrates on a daily basis against the palestinian people.

I dont normally respond in these types of threads but I hope people will understand that the majority of these people are not supporters of Israel - though perhaps blindled by the propoganda that the regime spouts out. They are MERELEY PAID WORKERS WHO's GET PAID TO SEARCH AND SURF THE WEB TO ENSURE THAT NEGATIVE ISRAELI PRESS OR BLOGS ARE ALLWAYS ARGUED AGAINST TO GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT WHAT ISRAEL IS DOING IS SUPPORTED BY A LOT OF PEOPLE. This is one of the great deceptions that is practiced by by Zionists and right wing Jews.
