We receive Ramadan Timetable requests every year, bizarrely for some reason everybody leaves their hunt for Ramadan Timetables till last - why?
We cannot always cope with the vast requests we get. On most occassions the areas we get requests for dont either have a Muslim centre or a Mosque nearby with a very small or no Muslim community at all.
So you are ready to fast and theres no help available. Typically people tend to follow either a neighbouring county or city for Ramadan. I've seen on most occasions the neighbouring counties and cities people tend to follow are pretty far apart from one another, if this is the case then read on.
The fundamentals to fasting relies on the Sun for Sunset and Sunrise (Dawn). So if you dont find your timetable on our website and cannot find a local Muslim centre or a Mosque in your area then you can begin fasting soley based on the Sun. All you need to know is the Sunset and Sunrise (Dawn) timings for your city or county. The best place to visit for Sunset and Sunrise times would be the BBC Weather website, just tap in your location and look out for Sunset and Sunrise times for the day.
So when do i start and stop fasting?
You should stop eating just a few minutes before Dawn, this is when you begin to see the twilight. Dawn is the time that marks the beginning of the twilight before sunrise. It is recognized by the presence of weak sunlight, while the sun itself is still below the horizon. If you are able to sight it then you should stop eating.
You start eating just after or on Sunset, the moment the sun goes down in the evening you can break your fast and begin eating, be sure to check the time for Sunset just before you begin.
You then follow this same process for the next 30 days. By then Inshallah (God Willing) you will have kept all your fasts just as if you had a timetable! Who said fasting was difficult?

Ramadan is scheduled start next week on either Wednesday or Thursday depending on the sighting of the moon. Please revisit us next week to find out on what day Ramadan is likely to fall on.
